Pregnancy is indeed a dream come true for many, there is little doubt about that but you add one more word to it as a prefix and it becomes the basis for an age long battle. The word unintended or unplanned pregnancy is the biggest reason for abortion which is a battle that never ends, even if the laws are in place people are still unable to come to terms with this term. We all have our opinions and never will there ever be an absolute agreement or disagreement on abortion or any issue for that matter. The problem is in places where there are no abortion laws; unsafe abortion is a problem while abortion for some is a solution to a problem. There are various reasons why women stumble upon unintended pregnancy; failure of contraception is the leading cause though. If you look at the statistics of abortion about half of the females who are getting it done are already mothers and most of them are on contraceptives. Apart from the failure of contraception incest, rapes and intimate partner violence are also the reasons why. When it comes to teen pregnancy the most common reason that occurs to the mind is lack of comprehensive sex education as well as the curiosity to know one’s body (raging hormones). Constantly bickering over each other may serve some purpose but it might not be very successful in bringing down the incidences of abortion, though if we all work together against unintended pregnancy and keep the laws at a place then nobody might have to go for abortion in a clandestine way and hurt themselves. Mifepristone exerts its effects by inhibiting a hormone called Progesterone, this leads to fetal cell death as this hormone supplies vitamins and nutrients that keep the fetal cells alive. The role of Misoprostol is to exclude the fetal cells which it does by making the myometrial lining of the uterine cell wall contract vigorously due to which, the cells come out in form of a blood clot.
